Deloris Brenner, age 99, went to her heavenly home on
August 23, 2018. There she joined her husband, Floyd
Brenner, Sr., brothers: Harold, Gerald, Virgil, Bernard and
Lester. Surviving Deloris is one brother, Orville Knapp of AZ.
Deloris was born November 22, 1918 in Gilman, WI to Andrew
Jackson Knapp and Cecelia Frances (nee: Parker) Knapp.
She met a handsome, young man named Floyd Brenner, who
became the love of her life, and married in 1937. They lived
on a farm in Gilman where they raised their four children:
Floyd Jr. (Bernice) of Kewaskum, WI, Melvin (Carol) of North
Liberty, IA, Ronald (Diane) of Gilman, WI and Irene (Gary)
Knowlton of Holcombe, WI. She is further survived by 12
grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Deloris was a devoted and loving wife to her husband for 38
years until Floyd’s passing in 1975. She then moved to
Cornell where she lived until 2017 and then moved to
Ladysmith Care & Rehab. While a wonderful wife, she was
also a loving and devoted mother, always there with a helping
hand and a listening ear, loving as only a mother could.
She enjoyed having a garden and canning, passing along the
art to her family. She was also a baker, making her famous
raised donuts with her granddaughters and great-
granddaughters teaching them all her “secrets”. Nobody in
the family will forget her wonderful “peanut squares” that she
made every Christmas for her family and friends, making her
last batch at the age of 96.
Another great enjoyment in her life was putting together jig-
saw puzzels. She put together hundreds of them, giving them
to family and friends. When anyone visited, there was always
a puzzle on the table. She would get a sparkle in her eyes
when people joined her in putting one together and the
wonderful conversation that went along with it. Known as the
“Puzzel Lady”, her walls were decorated with her work. Always
up for a game of cards, Skipo and Kings Corner being her
favorites, she loved when she “beat you”; and she usually
did!! She was an awesome, strong person and will be loved
and missed forever, but never forgotten.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at
11:00 AM, at First Presbyterian Church, 211 S. 4th St.,
Cornell. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery, Gilman.
Friends may call on Tuesday, at the church, from 10:00 AM
