Rita M. Schuebel, 78, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at
Oakbrook Nursing and Rehab Center-Thorp. She was
born on July 16, 1939 to the late Herman and Frances
(Adams) Schuebel. Rita grew up in the Town of Edson,
graduated from Sacred Heart Grade School in 1953 and
was Valedictorian of McDonell Catholic High School in
Chippewa Falls in 1957. Rita went on to Viterbo
University in LaCrosse and graduated as a Medical
Technologist in 1961. She then worked at St. Francis
Hospital in LaCrosse for the next 30 years.
She retired in 1991 to fulfill a lifelong dream to provide
home care for her aging father as well as own a horse
ranch. Horses were her passion and she loved talking
about them. Rita was an avid fan and follower of all
Wisconsin sports especially the Green Bay Packers.
She is survived by her brother, Kenneth (Jane) Schuebel
of Boyd, her nieces and nephew, Karen (Barry) Eslinger
of Stanley, Kristen (Neil) Hatfield of Hudson and Michael
Schuebel of Boyd and her grandniece and nephews,
Audrey, Bennett and Jack Hatfield. Rita is preceded in
death by her parents and brother, Herman, JR.
A funeral mass will be held at 11AM on Saturday, March
24, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church-Boyd with
Father William Felix officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred
Heart Catholic Cemetery-Edson. Visitation will be from 9:
30 until time of service Saturday morning at the Church.
