Alojz “Butch” Kowal, 76, formerly of Gilman, died Monday, July 1,
2019 at Hammond Health Services. He was born on January 23,
1943 to the late Joseph and Louise (Mravik) Kowal. He grew up in
the Gilman/ Lublin area and later moved to Chicago, Illinois. Butch
worked many jobs there until returning in the early 70’s and farmed
south of Gilman for many years.

He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Boe of River Falls, 2
grandchildren, Brandon (Madeline) Boe and Kaitlyn Boe, 10 sisters:
Josephine Pizzi of Abbotsford, WI; Bernadine Kowal of New London,
WI; Margaret (Don) Shere of Lena, IL; Veronica Nichols of Mount
Pleasant, WI; Theresa (Jim) Plastina of McHenry, IL; Mary Ann
(Gordon) Dietzler of Gilman, WI; Virginia (Bill) Bishop of Fremont,
WI; Angeline (Earl) Feltner of Tampa, FL; Rosella (Steve) Strnad of
Lake Elsinore, California; and Alberta Kowal of Elk Grove Village,
IL; 1 brother: Joseph Jr. (Kathy) Kowal of Franklin Park, IL; a sister
in law; Pat Kowal; a brother in law; Steve Schab; several nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, John,
youngest sister, Charlotte Schab, a sister in law, Kathy Kowal and a
brother in law, Roger Nichols.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, July 6, 2019
at the Gilman Funeral Home with Father Madanu Lourdu officiating.
Visitation will be one hour earlier on Saturday morning. Inurnment
will take place in the Roosevelt Cemetery-Lublin.
