Obituary:

Glenn E. Smith, 68 of Stanley, died suddenly on Monday, September 1, 2025. He was born on December 10, 1956 in New London, WI the son of the late Donald and Kay (Alloway) Smith. Glenn grew up there and graduated from Amherst High in 1975.

Glenn grew up with the family business-Don Smith Sales. He ran the Stanley Store for many years and after that for Midwest Mfg. building trusses for many years until retiring in 2021.

He enjoyed music, especially the Beatles, reading and conspiracy theories. Glenn was an accomplished musician-playing bass electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards and the trumpet. He even recorded with a band called the Contenders.

He is survived by his life partner, Beth Young of Stanley, his children, Dan (Jackie) Smith of Boyd, Jonathon Smith of Chippewa Falls and Cameron Smith at home, 1, granddaughter, Kaylyn, his step sons, Mitchell (Kate) Young, Douglas Young and stepdaughter, Janna (Brandon) Baker, step grandchildren, Mila and Lane Baker, Zoey and Scarlett Young and Joseph and Dalton McDermond, and his sisters, Ginger Smith of Green Bay, Diane “Dani” (Al) Kluck of Amherst and Kathleen (Shirley) Hess of Schofield his nieces, Kacie, Ashley and Kristin and nephews, Corey, Dustin and Erik. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Kay and 2 brothers, Donnie and David.

A memorial service for Glenn will be held at 2PM on Friday, September 12th with visitation one hour prior all at the Plombon Funeral Home-Stanley.
