Let Us Help You Prepare for a Funeral Ahead of Time

No one likely wants to think about planning their funeral. Unfortunately, nothing good can come out of it if you don't.

By avoiding end-of-life planning, you're giving up authority over some of the most critical decisions you'd ever make in your lifetime. These decisions will be left to be made by relatives who are caught in the emotional turmoil of grief after the loss of a loved one.

Making pre-arrangements is the right choice. You can do so at your own pace when you feel calm, healthy, and rational. With numerous years of experience in pre-planning funerals, Plombon Funeral Home is here to help make the process as simple and easy as possible for you.

We'd like to say that the best time to pre-plan your service is "right now," but we understand that not everyone is emotionally ready to take on this task. Perhaps the best time to start pre-planning is when you have a family you wish to protect from the emotional burdens they'll carry if no plan is left behind at all.

By taking the time to calmly collect this information now, you're protecting your family from the stress of making these decisions at a time of extreme emotional stress.

What is Funeral Pre-Planning?

Funeral pre-planning is the concept of planning a funeral before it's needed. People may choose to pre-plan when they have been diagnosed with a terminal illness or even when they're perfectly healthy.

Pre-planning a funeral allows people to plan their burial or cremation exactly how they want and choose the merchandise that's right for them. Planning allows people to compare costs and options and make choices in a less emotional setting. This can help to avoid the emotional overspending that often occurs at the time of need.

You can choose to pre-plan every last detail or only make the main decisions and allow your family to personalize the details. When we meet, we'll walk you through all the details to be considered and record your wishes and instructions or make note that the choice is up to your family to decide.

Typically, the following items are discussed during a pre-planning meeting:
  • Vital statistics information required when a death occurs
  • Casket burial or cremation
  • Cemetery information, if applicable
  • Private viewing, public visitation, and prayer service
  • Location for service, if applicable
  • Funeral merchandise
    • Caskets
    • Vaults
    • Cremation containers
    • Urns
    • Keepsakes
  • Personalization information
    • Flowers
    • Music
    • Tributes and eulogies
    • Pallbearers
    • Clothing
    • Ministers
    • Obituaries
After we have recorded your information, you may choose to leave the file as is without pre-paying. This is called an unfunded pre-arrangement. We'll keep the information on file and when the time of need comes, the current price of the selected services and merchandise is charged to the family or estate.

People who have purchased a life insurance policy may find this option best. The only caution is that there is no protection against inflation when services are not prepaid.

If you choose to prepay, you lock in your prices. This is a funded prearrangement. Those who choose this option pay today's prices, which are guaranteed and protected from inflation. Laws are governing prepaid funerals to ensure your money is available when needed. You cannot be charged extra for services that were paid for in advance.

At Plombon Funeral Home, we believe that pre-planning is the best and safest option for families. Funds are held in a trust or placed in an insurance-based product. A prepaid arrangement is fully transferable and allows for a beneficiary to be named if funds are available at the time of need.

From single-pay plans and automatic monthly bank withdrawals to credit card payments, we'll work with you to come up with a plan that works best for your financial situation.

We are not in the sales business. As professional, experienced funeral directors, we are only concerned with helping you make the choices that are right for you, your family, and your budget.

"Dan Plombon's manner-professional, straight-forward, not blunt or harsh, kind, compassionate but not nauseatingly sappy, not pushy but followed through and made sure things got taken care of in a timely manner. Overall, just a pleasant guy to work with."

- From the family of A.K.

"Dan Plombon was very helpful and always available even though we didn't use his services much since our mother wanted it kept very simple and informal."

- From the family of E.P.

"Most memorable about our experience: personal touch. We had 3 deaths in 5 weeks and Dan did them all. He linked them together and showed empathy, sympathy and compassion."

- From the family of E.K.

"Dan Plombon presented himself as very professional. He took care of everything that pertained to the visitation and funeral-very accommodating."

- From the family of R.H.

“We wanted to send you a personal, very special "thank you" for everything you did to facilitate my mother’s funeral. We think you went above and beyond the norm during this awful COVID time to make sure everything went off without any problems and made it seem so comfortable and not too much outside the box. I think there is a funeral joke in that last comment.😂
We keep all our Stanley friends, and family in our prayers and heart and you and your family are ones we think of fondly. Best to you and yours…”

- From the family of J.T.
