Obituary:

Martin E. Seichter, 92, of Boyd, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at home. He was born January 3, 1933 at the family farm North of Boyd; the son of the late Alfred and Frances (Weigel) Seichter. Marty grew up attending area schools before enlisting in the Army. He worked at various jobs across the country, including the John Deere plant in Iowa, before he came back to farm in Boyd. He was a member of the Boyd American Legion Post 326.

He married Lorraine Sonnentag on June 16, 1973 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church- Edson. He was a man of faith; a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic parish (which became All Saints) where he ushered and attended mass faithfully every weekend for as long as his health allowed.

Marty enjoyed watching sports, reading, and hunting, but he is most known for his bowling, card playing, and fishing. He bowled most of his adult life, and in fact, started dating his wife after being partnered with her in a mixed couple’s league. He loved playing cards (mostly Euchre) with his family friends, and neighbors. He often bragged about the money he had won playing cards. His passion, though, was for fishing. He would always make time for the “important stuff”; bringing home fish to be cleaned and eaten or given away to friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lorraine, 9 children Lori (James) Hoover, Linda (Jason) Langer, Matthew (Shannon) all of Eau Claire, Walley of Baldwin, Virginia (Chad) Anderson of Eleva, Jamie of Boyd, Stacey (Dylan) Langness of Osseo, Jake (Becca) of Eau Claire, Jeffrey (Shannon Doyle) of Blanchardville; 19 grandchildren, Johnathan, Nicole, Michael, Carter, Jordan, Jaedon, Josie, Brianna, Rachael (Ron), Alex, Darnell, Austen, Kwinn, Damien, Eli, Jack, Mindy, Jase, and Cora; 4 great- grandchildren Wayne, Lennon, Liam, and Zamuel; his brother Sylvester of Boyd, sister Dorothy Potaczek of Stanley, and sister-in-law Myra of Cedar Falls, IA; and many nieces and nephews. Martin is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Ann Marie, his brothers Alvin (Vera), Robert (Joyce), Florian, Norbert (Arlene), Herbert (Grace), Felix, Raymond In infancy, brother-law Bernard Potaczek, his sisters Lorraine (Bill) Matthews, Mary Pogodzinski, Alice (Bill) Gadke, Theresa (Larry) Johnson, and sister-in-law Kathleen.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church- Boyd with Father William Felix officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Boyd. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Wednesday, March 26 with a 7:30 PM rosary, and Thursday, March 27 from 9:30-10:30 AM at Plombon’s Funeral Home, Stanley.
