Obituary:
Joy Ann Stevens, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away suddenly on June 13, 2025, at the age of 71, in Thorp. Joy was born on April 12, 1954, at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley, to the late George and Pearl (Hodnett) Spaeth. She grew up near Stanley and graduated from Stanley-Boyd High School. On October 26, 1974, Joy married Kenneth Stevens at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Stanley. Together, they resided in Cadott, Rudolph, and New Richmond before finding their paradise at Turtle Lake, where they lovingly raised their five children.
Joy was known for her unconditional love and giving heart. Her door was always open, welcoming friends and family to share laughs and good conversation over a plate of homegrown fresh fruits and vegetables, or one of her incredible home-cooked meals or baked goods. She will be remembered for the deep care she showed for others, sending ripples of love and joy through her family and community, much like the waves in her swimming pool. She cherished the many friendships she made over the last eight winters in Tucson, AZ, where she enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends. Joy had a knack for finding bargains, loving to spend days discovering treasures at garage sales, always with entertaining guests in mind. She tended her flowers and garden with great care, however, her family was the most important thing she nurtured. She took immense pride in raising her children and was overjoyed to become Grandma to the next generation of Stevens. Her legacy of love lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
Joy is survived by her devoted husband, Ken of Thorp, and their five children: Jeff (Katy) Stevens of Eau Claire, Randy (Chanda) Stevens of Maple Lake, MN, Ben (Belinda) Stevens of Poy Sippi, Tom (Laura) Stevens of Chippewa Falls, and Julie Rose (Andrew) Seigler of Riverside, CA. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; her siblings, Iris (John) Cance of Tucson, AZ, Arlon (Joyce) Spaeth of Madison, Donna (Dave) Marten of Eau Claire, Darrel (Kathy) Spaeth of Chippewa Falls, Kevin (Debbie) Spaeth of Nampa, ID, and Scott (Sue) Spaeth of Birchwood; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dean, and an infant brother.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20th, at 10:00 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Stanley, WI, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.
