Cecilia A. Sromek

Obituary:

Cecilia A. Sromek, 96, of Thorp, died on Sunday, January 19, 2025. She was born on December 23, 1928 to the late Martin and Josephine (Ratajczyk) Gonia. After high school she married Milton Sromek on August 30, 1947 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church-Gilman.

Cecilia was employed by the Gilman School District for 17 years. She was a lifelong member of Gilman Legion Auxiliary, Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, the Rosary Society & Guild, St. Agnus Choir and a hospice volunteer.

She is survived by her children, Josie (Greg) Steinbach of Gilman, Robert (Charlene) Sromek of Princeton, MN., Ronald (Holly) Sromek of Perkinstown, Mark (Melodie) Sromek of Strum, and Rita (John) Dado of Greenville, S.C. 8 grandsons, Craig and Ben Steinbach, Billy, Travis, Ryan, Cody, Alex and Kyle Sromek, 2 granddaughters, Tonia (Dave) Fierke and Rebecca (Eric) Zuleger, 13 great and 3 great great grandchildren. Cecilia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Milton (1990), her daughter, Mary Jane in infancy, her great granddaughter, Lucilia Steinbach, her brothers, Anthony, Stanley and Frank Gonia, and her sisters, Anna Zitella, Theresa Trawicki and Sophie Lelko.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 25th at 2 PM at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church-Gilman with Father Joseph Stefancin officiating. Visitation will be from Noon until time of service.
