Obituary:
Ina May Peterson, 93, formerly of Stanley, died Thursday, January 23, 2025. She was born on April 11, 1931 in the Town of Worden the daughter of the late John and Clara (Baumgarten) Miller. Her family moved onto a farm south of Thorp when Ina was 2 years old and she grew up there. Ina attended area schools and graduated from Thorp High School in 1949.She married Wesley Peterson on July 1, 1952. The couple farmed for 4 years and then moved to Stanley. Ina worked at Victory Memorial Hospital for 10 years and then Fabritec/Amaco for the next 25 years until retirement. The couple was very active members at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church-Stanley.
The couple enjoyed traveling throughout the USA, especially to Branson, Alaska and the Kentucky Derby; going to the casinos; watching baseball and football games; boating; and snowmobiling. At age 91, Ina completed her “bucket list” and went sky diving!
She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Ina is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley, her parents, her twin sister, Nina Heiting, sister, Elizabeth Ricksford, and brothers, William “Butch”, Orville, and Norbert Miller.
A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church-Stanley with Pastor Kenneth Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 until time of service Wednesday at the church. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.
