Robert L. Hecker
January 23, 1965 - May 9, 2025
Obituary:
Robert L Hecker graduated into Glory on May 9, 2025, and was welcomed into the presence of His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He suffered a sudden and traumatic brain aneurysm the evening of May 2, 2025. He lived his 60 years as a sojourner; passing through this world, awaiting and anticipating his everlasting home in Glory. When asked where he was going, he would often respond by saying, “I’m going to Heaven, can’t wait!”He was born January 23, 1965, to Robert and MaryAnn (Flohr) Hecker, in Milwaukee, WI. The oldest of five siblings, he grew up on the family farm near Hawkins and after graduating from Flambeau High School in 1983, began operating his own farm (1992) in Jump River. When he was nine years old, he gave his life to Christ and never looked back.
Bob married Jennifer Carrell on July 7, 1990, and was abundantly blessed with twelve children. Their family’s faith was tested and strengthened through Jennifer’s battle with cancer, which she won on May 31, 2018, when she was called Home to be with the Lord. Bob married Diane Brill Doolittle on August 29, 2020 saying “I count it a GREAT blessing to love and be loved by two of the most precious ladies God ever created!”.
He led his tight-knit family to grow in the knowledge and grace of Christ through daily devotions. He was passionate about teaching and encouraging others; mainly through church ministry but also with his involvement with the Riverside 4-H Club. He enjoyed playing the trumpet and making music unto the Lord at Easter and Christmas Celebrations and honored Veterans by playing “Taps” during funeral services and each Memorial Weekend.
An unselfish man of quiet strength and deep faith, humble in spirit, yet rich in love and purpose. He was a man after God’s own heart, Chosen and Called, a faithful follower and servant – loved by God and kept by Christ, a thoughtful son, caring brother, loving husband, doting dad and granddad, a family man who exemplified walking with the Lord, a caretaker of God’s creation as a lifelong farmer, serious with a side of the sillies, deeply loved, cherished, and forever held by the Hand who created him. Those who knew him best would say he lived with unwavering faith, walking daily with his Creator and sustained by the grace of Christ.
He is survived by his beloved Sweet Pea, Diane and leaves a lasting legacy for all his children: Daniel (Ginger), MaryEllen (fiancé Jackson), Ruth, David, Joe (Amanda), Hannah (Jake Ohman), Andrew (fiancée Tshiya), Peter (Eryn), Esther, Abigail, Rebekah, Timothy, and step-children: Lauranne, Wesley, and AJ Doolittle, adored by 10 grandchildren with one on the way, parents, siblings: Bill (Jennifer), Jeff (Cindy) and Lori (James Bechthold) along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents Paul and Mary Flohr, Mabel Hecker; wife, Jennifer and youngest sibling John.
A small, family-only graveside gathering will be held on Monday, May 12 at Mount Nebo Cemetery in Jump River. Visitation will be Monday, May 12th, from 6-8pm at Christ Community Church in Jump River. A worship-filled Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sheldon Church of Christ with Pastor Jeremy Allard officiating.
