Obituary:

Barbara M. Fazendin, 83, formerly of Stanley, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Care Partners Eau Claire under the care of St. Croix Hospice. She was born on December 8, 1942, in Caledonia, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Otto and Mary (Schwartzhoff) Ernster. Barb grew up in Caledonia and graduated from Loretto Catholic High School.

Barb married B. Joseph Fazendin on April 28, 1962, in Caledonia. The couple first operated the Fulda Free Press in Fulda, Minnesota for three years, before moving to Stanley in 1968, where they owned and operated The Stanley Republican for 38 years.

Barb treasured spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed relaxing with a Pepsi while watching her favorite true crime shows, reading, doing puzzles, playing cards, camping, bowling, and dancing. Barb also loved spending time in Texas in the winter. She shared a close and lifelong bond with her sisters, Verlie and Dorothy, and cherished the many memories they made together. Barb was well known for her homemade lemon and cherry rolls, which were a favorite among family and friends.

Since moving to Stanley, Barb was a faithful member of Holy Family (All Saints) Catholic Parish. She shared her talents through baking and crocheting for church events and contributed to the community by volunteering at the local food pantry.

She is survived by her children, Jeanne Bruski of Augusta, Michael (Mary) Fazendin of Thorp, Richard Fazendin of Stanley, and Stacy (Mike) Serocki of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Charlie, Alec (Sierra) Bruski, Ashley (Zach) Lund, Kelly (Drew Ries, fiancé) Fazendin, Rachel (Kenzie) Drozd, and Megan Serocki; a great-grandchild on the way; and one brother, James (Connie) Ernster of Louisville, Kentucky. Barb was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe, in 2023; and her sisters, Dorothy Mullenbach and Verlie Morris.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 30, at the Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley with Father William Felix officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of service on Thursday.
