Obituary:

Delores Marie Long, 87 of Stanley, passed away on May 2, 2026. She was born on June 8, 1938, the daughter of the late Albert and Helen (Derks) Zais. Delores grew up there and graduated from Boyd High School. She went on to UW Stout where she acquired a degree in Special Education. She married Allan “Harper” Long on September 2, 1957 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church-Boyd.

Delores worked her entire career for the Stanley-Boyd School District. She drove bus for over 20 years and was a Special Ed aid for over 36 years. As fondly remembered by students, she pulled many ear’s as was her belief on strict discipline!

She enjoyed her many horses and dogs throughout her life. She loved when her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren came to visit!

She is survived by her children, Lisa Long of Los Angeles, CA, Richie Long of Lake Halle and Renee Long of Stanley and her sister, Pam Licht of Boyd. Delores is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Allan and her sisters, Carol Briggs and Beverly Milas.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, May 30th at the Plombon Funeral Home with Father William Felix officiating. Saturday May 30th. Inurnment will follow in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
