Obituary:
Alice J. Ciolkosz, 80 of Thorp, died peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Oakbrook Nursing and Rehab Center, with her family by her side. She was born on May 12, 1944 in Weyerhaeuser, WI the daughter of the late William and Agnes (Rybicki) Meredyk. She grew up near Weyerhaeuser and graduated from High School in 1962.Alice worked at GO Sportswear for over 20 years as a seamstress and as floor manager. Met and later married Ronald Ciolkosz on October 28, 1978 at St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church. The couple farmed in the Town of Thorp until early 2001.
Alice was devoted to her catholic faith and was an active member of the PCCW. Volunteered at the Senior Center. She enjoyed her time on the farm; looking after the animals, tending to her flower and gardening. She began sewing at an early age; making clothes, altering dresses for others and making Barbie doll clothes. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, needlepoint and cross stitch. She had a true passion for cooking and was famous for her rye bread. She took great pride in passing down her skills to her grandchildren. Playing Bunco with the ladies. Most importantly, her greatest love...was her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Cindy (Dan) Pennington of St. Paul Park, MN, Randy and Bobby (AJ) Ciolkosz both of Thorp, four grandchildren Dylan, Katie, Caleb and Claire, her brother, Edward (Suzanne) Meredyk and her sister, Irene Mitchell and numerous nieces and nephews. Alice is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ron (2007) and her sister, Dolores Johnson.
A funeral mass will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church-Thorp with Father Stanislaus Antony officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Cemetery-Town of Thorp. Visitation will be from 9AM until time of service Wednesday at the church starting with a 9AM rosary. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.
