Carol J. Swatzina

Obituary:

Carol J. Swatzina, 79, passed away peacefully, Friday morning May 16th, 2025. She was born on September 16, 1945 to the late Wendell and Letty (Filipiak) Koolmo of Gilman, WI. Carol was a 1963 graduate of Gilman High School and attended UW-Stout. She paused her education to marry her lifelong partner; Gregory Swatzina. Together, their adventure began.

They were blessed with three children: Todd, Kelly and Kari Lynn. After Kari’s passing in 1972, their commitment to each other became unbreakable. Through the years Carol finished her education as a registered dietician and was able to work wherever Greg’s work transferred him.

They enjoyed buying and remodeling their homes and LOVED their camping bungalow. The great love in Carol’s life besides Greg; were her 4 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters. She also kindly tolerated all of the families’ fur babies!

Family time was most important to Carol. Every gathering filled with good food, good drinks, stories and so many laughs. Always picking up where we left off. Carol is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gregory Swatzina, her son, Todd (Melody) and their children, Karynna and Kody, her daughter Kelly (Brian) Zak and their children, Aaron (Jenna), Cameron (Mikayla) Zak, and her great granddaughters, Alexa Lynn and Oaklee Rae Zak. She is preceded in death by her Father Wendell, her mother, Letty, her daughter, Kari Lynn and other family members

A funeral mass will take place at 11AM on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church-Gilman. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Wednesday at the Gilman Funeral Home and one hour prior to mass Thursday at the church.

The family would especially like to thank the staff at Aurora Bay Care Hospital: Green Bay for their endless devotion to help Carol.
