Obituary:

Duane H. Bohl, 81 of rural Stanley, died Thursday, August 7, 2025 at his home under the care of St. Croix Hospice, Chelsea and Olivia. He was born on the family farm near Bloomer on March 6, 1944 to the late Gilbert and Mildred (Langel) Bohl. Duane grew up there until his family moved north of Boyd when he was a teenager. He graduated from Stanley-Boyd High School and went on to serve his country in the Air Force.

After a medical discharge, he moved to St Paul, and graduated with a four year technical college degree to become a journeyman machinist while working at American Hoist & Derrick. There, he met Nancy, and served on the Ramsey County Mounted Patrol. On July 2, 1966 Duane married Nancy Lundquist in West St. Paul, MN. The couple bought their first farm in the Town of Delmar and settled there, raising their 3 children.

He was so very proud of all of them. During his 53 years of farming, he also enjoyed the trap shooting team, bowling league, “canoeing,” competing in antique tractor pulls, vacationing in Hawaii, and traveling the country by RV.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy, their children, Melissa (John) Fields of Portland, OR, Lawrence (Chelsea) Bohl of Stanley and Lorilynn (Aaron) Parker of Oakville, WA, 5 grandchildren, Douglas, Christopher, Lisa, Trent and Carson, 5 great grandchildren, Willow, Demitri, Hazel, Jaxon and Robin and 2 sisters, Darlene Eslinger and Betty (George) Tomczak both of Cadott. Duane is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Donald and his sisters, Geraldine Westaby and Joanne Schaefer.

Military Rites will be performed at 11AM on Friday, August 15th at the Boyd American Legion Hall by Post # 326. Duane’s Celebration of Life will follow at the hall until 3PM.

Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.
