Verna J. Scholze

Obituary:

Verna J. Scholze, 91, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Heatherwood in Eau Claire. She was born on February 23, 1934 to the late Severt and Agnes (Hysen) Brumberg. Verna grew up in Rock Falls, and graduated from Durand High School. She married Robert Scholze on January 15, 1955 in Eau Claire.

Verna first worked at First National Bank in downtown Eau Claire. Bob and Verna moved to Boyd and from 1963-1990 owned and operated the Big “B” Market. After the sale of the store, she baked at Farmer’s Kitchen Restaurant in Cadott. She then worked for many years demoing samples at Sam’s Club in Eau Claire.

Verna enjoyed camping with her family and other Boyd families at area lakes then had a permanent camper at Lake Holcombe for many years. Verna was a lifelong Wisconsin and high school sports fan. She quietly cared for so many people in her life, always with special treats, care and love without expecting anything in return.

Verna lived in Boyd for many years and since 2001, she has lived in Eau Claire. She is survived by her children, Dawn (Jay) Jaehnke of Chisago City, MN, Mark Scholze (Lori Poppe) of Luck and Jill (John) Simon of Wausau, a daughter in law, Charlotte Scholze, 8 grandchildren (Cara, Adam, Derek, Brett, Chad, Brock, Brienna, Bryce) and 6 great grandchildren (Dylan, Oliver, Micah, Meredith, Andrew, Jacob). Verna is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert (2001) her son John (2017), her brothers, Morris, Stuart and Otis Brumberg and her sisters, Alice Thiel, Arlene Stokes and Eldora Brumberg.

Visitation will be from 10AM until time of service on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church- Stanley. The funeral service will be held at 1 PM with Pastor Diane House officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery-Stanley. A meal and fellowship will follow. Plombon Funeral Service is assisting the family.
